Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ICU nurse (RN) with CA licensure and a BSN to join a teaching hospital PICU. You will work 19:00–07:30 on a 3x12 schedule, with a 1:2 patient ratio and Epic EMR responsibilities. Travel pairs may be available; ICU expertise and CVICU exposure are highly valued.

Minimum 5 years PICU experience, CA RN license, and BLS/PALS certifications are required. CVICU, Trauma Level I, and charge nurse experience are preferred.

• Teaching hospital experience preferred and verifiable.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• Pediatric CVICU experience preferred.
• Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred.
• Respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care.
• IV therapy, central line care, and PICC line management.
• Management of pediatric emergency meds and vasopressors.
• Neurologic monitoring ICP/EVD; cardiovascular monitoring including hemodynamic and CVP.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a teaching hospital.
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30.
• Maintain 1:2 patient ratio.
• Float to other units within 75+ miles as needed.
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in PICU.

• Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history
• Epic charting system experience required
• Pediatric CVICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in management of pediatric emergency medications and vasopressors
• Skilled in neurologic monitoring including ICP and EVD management
• Skilled in cardiovascular monitoring including hemodynamic and CVP monitoring
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed in employment history, including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager at time of offer
• No additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract and RTO is not permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
