American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) night shift position in Des Moines, IA. Requires 24 months of PICU experience and PALS certification.

Responsibilities include night shifts, floating to NICU, General Pediatrics, and ED as needed, and working within a family-centered care environment with Epic EMR usage.

Qualifications

• Active IA state RN license or compact license
• Current BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications
• Minimum 24 months of PICU/Pediatric ICU experience
• Epic EMR experience
• Vent and high-flow equipment experience preferred
• Alaris IV pump and feeding pump experience preferred
• Driver's license required
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in a 12-bed, all-private-room PICU caring for critically-ill or injured infants, children, and teens
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hour shifts, 36 hrs/week, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Weekend requirement of every 4th weekend
• Minimal, as-needed on-call requirements
• Floating required to NICU, General Pediatrics, and ED patient holds as needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a family-centered care environment
• Part of a dedicated pediatric critical care team supported by pediatric critical care physicians
• Must be willing to float to NICU (feeders and growers population), General Pediatrics, and ED patient holds when needed
• Holiday rotation required, including working 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local candidates are being considered
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH facility within 12 months of separation
