Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric ICU Travel Nurse for a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in North Carolina. The role requires 2 years of high-acuity PICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license, with BLS and PALS certifications. EPIC EMR experience is essential.

Shifts are 12-hour nights (1845-0715), 36 hours/week, with weekend rotation. You will work with a 24-bed PICU and a broad range of critical pediatric cases, supported by a full care team.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of strong high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
• Experience within the last year in core specialty area
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with ICU devices and critical care equipment
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference within the last year from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN

Responsibilities

• Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital with 247 licensed beds
• 24-bed PICU with average census of 21-23 patients
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• Floating required to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and Gen Peds as needed
• Provide high-acuity critical care nursing to pediatric patients across a wide range of diagnoses and procedures
• Perform bedside procedures alongside providers and manage complex equipment
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of all holidays
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric ICU position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of high-acuity PICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of strong high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
• Experience required within the last year in core specialty area
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills required include Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management (ART lines/CVP), ventilator and trach management, HFOV management, CRRT, feeding tube and chest tube management, epidural and PCA management, and Foley catheter management
• Experience with Alaris and Medfusion pump management
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital with 247 licensed beds
• 24-bed PICU with average census of 21-23 patients
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma (including NAT), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant (kidney/liver), complex medical, and blood disorder cases
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1845-0715), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements for travelers
• Floating required to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and Gen Peds as needed
• Centralized and bedside monitoring, no dedicated telemetry tech
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
• Provide high-acuity critical care nursing to pediatric patients across a wide range of diagnoses and procedures
• Perform bedside procedures alongside providers and manage complex equipment including EV-1000 Vigileo, I-stat, and Accuryn
• Supported by CNA/health care tech, unit secretary, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, intensivist, residents, and APPs
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of all holidays
• RTO subject to manager approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning as a traveler
