Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week evening shift assignment in Hermiston, Oregon. The role requires an active Oregon RN license and current BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC, with preferred CRAsE-aligned certifications and critical care or med-surg experience.

Responsibilities include PACU care, post-anesthesia monitoring, vitals tracking, and collaboration with the care team. Expect on-call rotations, Epic use, and potential cross-department float.

Qualifications

• Active OR RN license in the State of Oregon.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
• CPAN, CAPA, conscious sedation and ultrasound-guided IV certification preferred.
• CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months.
• 1+ year critical care or 2+ years medical-surgical experience required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently; assist with heavier transfers.
• 13-week evening shift assignment in Hermiston, OR.

Responsibilities

• PACU/Recovery care for pre-anesthesia, Phase I and II post-anesthesia.
• Monitor patients undergoing local OR procedures; administer conscious sedation if certified.
• Evening shift: 1500–2330, five 8-hour shifts weekly.
• On-call duties on regular rotation for the Post-Anesthesia Unit.
• Use Epic charting and clinical devices (glucometer, space labs, ultrasound, infusers).
• Float to other qualified departments as needed before core staff.
• Perform pre/postoperative assessments, IV access, admissions and management.
• Monitor vital signs and consciousness; intervene per guidelines via Aldrete scoring.
• Administer pain meds and manage postoperative nausea; assist anesthesia with blocks.
• Develop peri-anesthesia care plans and educate patients/caregivers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams following Oregon State Board of Nursing guidance.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to infectious materials and emergencies.

Requirements

• Active OR RN license in the State of Oregon
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• CPAN, CAPA, conscious sedation, Ultrasound Guided IV certification, and CRASE training preferred
• CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
• Associate of Applied Science in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Minimum one year of critical care experience or two years of medical-surgical experience required
• Previous Day Surgery, PACU, Pre-admission services, or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and assist with transferring patients over 100 pounds using proper techniques

Responsibilities

• PACU/Recovery Room setting providing pre-anesthesia, Phase I, and Phase II post-anesthesia care
• Monitors patients undergoing local-only OR procedures and may administer conscious sedation if certified
• Evening shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 1500-2330, 5 shifts per week at 8 hours each
• On-call responsibilities on a regular scheduled rotation for the Post-Anesthesia Unit
• Uses Epic charting, glucometer, art lines, space labs, bladder scanner, ultrasound machines, Belmont rapid infuser, and blood warmers
• Agency nurses float to other qualified departments before core staff are floated
• Performs pre and postoperative nursing assessments, admissions, and IV access initiation and management
• Monitors patients for changes in vital signs and consciousness, intervening per medical guidelines using the Aldrete scoring system
• Administers pain medications, treats post-operative nausea, and assists anesthesia with nerve blocks as needed
• Develops individualized peri-anesthesia plans of care and provides patient/caregiver education on recovery, medications, and warning signs
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and delegates tasks per Oregon State Board of Nursing guidelines
• Works in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent exposure to infectious materials and emergency situations
