Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery unit in a travel-capable role. Requires perioperative and cardiac surgery experience along with FL or compact RN licensure.

Responsibilities include perioperative care in CVOR, scrubbing/circulating during complex cases, coordinating with surgeons and anesthesia, and maintaining OR readiness. Day shift 7:00 AM–3:30 PM with alternating on-call rotations and travel-specific housing/benefits.

Qualifications

• Active FL RN license or multistate eNLC in good standing.
• AHA BLS and AHA PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Perioperative nursing experience required.
• Cardiac surgery experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with complex cardiac procedures and cardiopulmonary bypass preferred.
• Pediatric, congenital, or adult congenital cardiac experience preferred.
• CNOR or CPN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perioperative role within a CVOR unit.
• Cares for pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients undergoing complex cardiac surgeries.
• Day shift: 5x8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
• Participates in alternating 1st-call and 2nd-call rotation.
• Performs scrub and/or circulating duties during complex cardiac cases.
• Coordinates with cardiac surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and surgical technologists.
• Prepares and manages the operating room; ensures cardiac instruments, implants, and supplies are available.
• Maintains sterile technique, counts, time-outs, and documentation.
• Anticipates intraoperative needs and responds during complex or emergent cases.
• Supports quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives.
• Works with a multidisciplinary surgical team including surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff.
