Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for an evening-shift travel position in New Mexico. Must hold an NM or Compact RN license and have 2+ years of multi-specialty OR experience. BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Fingerprinting and a valid driver's license are also expected. The 13-week assignment runs 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a potential to work 48 hours per week.

• Supports a diverse surgical caseload across multiple specialties.
• Option to work 48 hours per week.
• Call coverage distributed among OR RNs.
• Uses Medhost and PICIS EMR systems.
• Responsible for patient safety, documentation, and sterile field support.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for an evening-shift travel position requiring 2+ years of multi-specialty surgical experience and a NM or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required
• Experience required across General, Ortho, OBGYN, Robotics, Urology, Hand, and Podiatry surgical specialties
• Fingerprinting required for all travelers working in New Mexico
• Active driver's license required for consideration
• US Social Security Number required for consideration; Canadian SIN not accepted
• No certifications expiring within first 30 days of start
• No employment gaps of 90+ days or more within the past 12 months

Responsibilities

• Work as a Circulator Nurse in the Operating Room of a Level III Trauma facility
• 13-week assignment with evening shift, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Monday-Friday
• Supports a diverse surgical caseload including General Surgery, Orthopedics, GYN, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, and Podiatry
• Option to work 48 hours per week
• Call requirement split among OR RNs, averaging 7 calls per 6-week period
• Weekday call runs 3 PM to 7 AM; weekend call is 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) for 24/7 unit coverage
• Uses Medhost and PICIS EMR systems
• No floating required
• Responsible for patient safety, documentation, workflow coordination, and sterile field support during surgical procedures
• Coordinates and manages patient care throughout the intraoperative phase across a broad range of surgical specialties
• Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, first assistants, and nursing colleagues
• Duties include patient assessment and advocacy, case preparation, equipment and supply management, specimen handling, and medication administration
• Hospital-laundered scrubs provided
• Maximum RTO of 1 week, with requests required to be less than 1 week
• Local candidates not accepted due to 50-mile radius rule
• Not eligible if candidate has worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past 2 years
