Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week assignment in Maryland. The candidate must hold an active MD or Compact RN license and BLS certification.

CNOR certification is preferred, and prior charge nurse experience is required. The role includes 4x10 hour day shifts (7:00 AM–5:30 PM), weekend rotations, and on-call duties with a 1-hour response time.

Qualifications

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• CNOR certification preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience required.
• CPI certification required for compliance (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted).

Responsibilities

• General Operating Room setting within a hospital environment.
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
• Weekend rotation required, averaging 4 shifts per 6-week schedule.
• On-call responsibilities required, averaging 4 calls per 6-week period with a 1-hour response time.
• Epic charting system experience preferred.
• Floating required within scope, with travelers prioritized to float first.
• Perform circulating and scrubbing duties across a variety of surgical specialties including general, orthopedic, vascular, gynecology, urology, and more.
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled.

• Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible unless otherwise specified
• Maximum of 7 consecutive days of requested time off; requests exceeding 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the back end of new contracts
• Former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system after completing an assignment
• Most locations allow one contract extension, after which a 6-month break from the facility/unit is required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
