Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU travel assignment in a 10-bed NSICU caring for stroke and neurosurgical/neurology patients. The role requires compact or PA RN license and strong neurocritical care skills, including EVD and ICP management.

The position involves night shifts (3x12 hours), some weekend/holiday coverage, and potential to float to other units. Epic EMR experience is required and prior teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience are preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Care for critically ill stroke and neurosurgical/neurology patients in NSICU.
• Provide post-operative care for neuro-endovascular procedures.
• Perform ICP monitoring, EVD management, and CRRT as needed.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, with some weekend/holiday coverage.
• May float to other units including ICU and acute care.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring compact or PA RN license and strong neurocritical care background including EVD and ICP management.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or PA) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (ENLS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years Neuro ICU experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Strong clinical skills in EVD management, ICP monitoring, CRRT, post-angiogram care, carotid procedures, and embolization care
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience managing ventilated patients, titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips, and interpreting ABGs
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care

Responsibilities

• Work in a 10-bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) caring for critically ill stroke and neurosurgical/neurology patients 18 years and older
• Unit serves as an overflow unit for medical patients and may care for COVID patients
• Provides post-operative care for neurosurgery and neuro-endovascular procedures including ICP monitoring, EVD, IV/IA tPA administration, mechanical thrombectomy, AVM repair, aneurysm repair, carotid stenting, craniotomy, and CRRT
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15, with every-other-weekend and holiday coverage as needed
• One hardship shift required depending on assignment timeframe
• May be required to float to other units including ICU and acute care
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing to patients with stroke, neurosurgical, and neurological conditions in an ICU setting
• Expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) depending on contract length
• Facility is tobacco and fragrance-free
• Maximum requested time off is 7 days per contract
• Schedule pairs may be submitted together but matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
