Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU role in California, requiring a CA RN license and at least one year of Neuro ICU experience.

The ideal candidate will hold BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, travel nursing background, and trauma level II exposure, with responsibilities including neuro critical care and post-surgical stroke management.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required; in-hand prior to consideration.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• TNCC certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience.
• At least 1 year Neuro ICU experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I and teaching/community hospital experience preferred.
• Experience with CVA/stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury management.
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year.

Responsibilities

• Provide neuro ICU care in a Trauma Level II facility.
• Maintain patient ratio 1:2.
• Work day shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 3x12-hour shifts.
• Observe EOW (every other weekend).
• May float to ED, Step Down, or Central Monitoring.
• Use Epic EMR for documentation.
• Deliver critical care nursing for neuro ICU post-surgical and stroke patients.
• Manage multisystem cases with vasoactive or sedation drips.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU role requiring a CA RN license and at least one year of Neuro ICU experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, in hand prior to consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of Neuro ICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching/community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, hypothermia protocol, and post neurosurgery management preferred
• Experience with ventilator management, arterial line management, and central/PICC line care
• Experience managing patients with CVA/acute stroke, TBI, and spinal cord injury
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Responsibilities

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a Trauma Level II facility
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• May float to ED, Step Down Unit, or Central Monitoring Department
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients, including post-surgical and stroke management
• Manage complex cases involving multisystem organ dysfunction and continuous vasoactive or sedation drips
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning staff must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only one holiday request approved
• Observed holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Only one Sutter Health facility submission allowed at a time
