Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Mother-Baby/Postpartum RN with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week contract at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Seattle, WA. Must have WA license, BLS/NRP, and travel nursing background.

Responsibilities include caring for newborns and postpartum patients on a Level 1 unit, with EPIC EMR, 1:3 staff ratio, 3x12-hr day shifts, and limited weekend work. Local candidates at same pay rate considered.

Qualifications

• Active WA state or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Mother-Baby/Postpartum nursing experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.
• EPIC charting experience preferred.
• Skilled in newborn assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration.
• Experienced with magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, and heparin infusions.
• Skilled in postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, cesarean section recovery, postpartum hemorrhage, and vaginal delivery care.
• Proficient in IV therapy, central line maintenance, and administration of blood and blood products.
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum unit of a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM).
• Patient ratio of 1:3.
• Weekend shifts required unless otherwise noted on the posted schedule.
• Floating within the hospital required, but not to sister hospitals.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses EPIC EMR system.
• Provide comprehensive newborn and postpartum patient care within a Level 1 Nursery and Postpartum setting.
• Perform breastfeeding instruction, car seat education, and discharge teaching for new parents.
• Care for newborns with conditions such as hypoglycemia, low birth weight, and large for gestational age.
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction.
• RTO should be kept to a minimum, with a maximum of 1 week, and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.
• Prior UW Medical Center staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler.
