Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float position in a hospital setting. The role requires 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Cerner charting is required and a 3x12 day shift (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with a 1:6 patient ratio is expected. Local candidates within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate. Flu vaccination is required, and first-time travelers are not eligible.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact or MD) required.
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment.
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC line management.
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and ABG interpretation.
• Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management.
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and total joint replacement care.
• Experience managing renal patients including pre/post hemodialysis care.
• Previous charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• MS/Tele Float role within a hospital setting.
• 3x12 Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• 1:6 patient ratio.
• Cerner charting system experience required.
• Every other weekend required.
• Holiday coverage as needed.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Float required within skillset and acuity level.
• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a diverse patient population.
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate.
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility.
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract.
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler.
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position.
