Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma Center. Requires Oklahoma RN license or Compact, BLS/ACLS, and Epic charting proficiency within the past year.

Expect 3x12 hour day shifts (6:30am-7:00pm) with 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks. Travel assignments preferred with strict attendance and training requirements. High pay and benefits offered by American Traveler.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Oklahoma or Compact) required at time of submission.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting required within the past year.
• PCU experience will not be accepted in lieu of MS experience.
• Epic charting experience required within the past year.
• Cardiac care self-rating of 3 or above required.
• Basic dysrhythmia training preferred with self-rating of 3 or above.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/PICC line management.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry remote monitoring required.
• Experience with chest tubes, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management required.
• Experience managing Heparin and insulin medications required.
• Minimum of two successful prior travel assignments required with no performance or attendance issues

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:5, with potential for 1:6-7
• Common diagnoses include altered mental status, CHF, stroke, ortho, surgical patients, DKA, and infections
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:30am-7:00pm)
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide care for Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac, respiratory, GI, and neurological/psychiatric cases
• All units may care for patients with mental health diagnoses
• Zero-fault attendance policy in effect; missed shifts (regardless of reason) count as unexcused and may result in warnings or cancellation after repeated occurrences
• Pre-start completion of assigned training modules required
• Scrub color varies by unit
• Free parking provided
• Maximum of 5 RTO days allowed within a 13-week assignment, with no additional RTO after submittal or during the contract
• No RTO permitted the day before, day of, or day after major holidays
• No block or special scheduling requests accommodated
• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Candidates with prior employment at this facility (traveler or permanent) must disclose this at time of submission
