Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced RN for a travel assignment on a 49-bed Acute Care Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit. You will maintain a 1:5 patient ratio and cover 12-hour nights (7p-7a), with every-other weekend rotations and self-scheduling.

You may float to East Campus/PCU as needed and must interpret telemetry strips with sign-off each shift. Requirements include an active AZ license, BLS/ACLS, 2+ years RN experience, and a dysrhythmia exam.

Qualifications

• Active AZ or Compact RN license is required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Experience reading telemetry strips is required.
• Cerner EMR experience is preferred.
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts.
• Two professional references with dates of employment.
• Copy of driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Acute care Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit with 49 beds.
• Patient ratio is 1:5.
• Care for CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetes, post-cath, and total joint replacements.
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a).
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation; 2 weekends per 4-week schedule.
• Self-scheduling managed by staff; final schedule approved by manager.
• Float to East Campus and possibly PCU; first to float.
• RNs interpret telemetry strips and sign off each shift.
• Care provided with nurse aide support; charge nurse and house supervisor available.

Requirements

• Some experience with CVA and TIA preferred
• Total joint replacement experience preferred
• Cerner experience recommended due to limited orientation
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Common diagnoses include CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetes, post-cath, and total joint replacement
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• EOW (every other weekend) requirement, 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling used, finalized by manager over a 4-week cycle
• Floating required, including to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
• First to float priority
• No titration of drips required, though set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips are used
• Monitor techs present on unit; RNs required to interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift
• Both charge nurse and house supervisor support available
• Nurse aide ratio of 1:10-15
• Respiratory equipment used includes BiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatments
• Cerner EMR used
• No call or standby requirements
• Provide care for a mix of medical, surgical, and telemetry patients including total joint replacement cases
• Must interpret and sign off on telemetry strips at least once per shift
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, typically 2 days and an eve or 2 eves and a day
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver's license address
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Must complete and pass a sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation
• Failure of the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam after two attempts results in a 6-month do-not-use status with CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento facilities
