Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry unit in California. The position requires a CA RN license, 2–3 years of specialty experience, and certifications including ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. COVID vaccination is required. A driver’s license and two professional references are also required.

The role features 12-hour day shifts (6:45–7:15) with self-scheduling by seniority, weekend shifts, and no call. The unit is travel-friendly and supports a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required; pending licenses not accepted.
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• COVID vaccine required.
• 2–3 years of specialty RN experience required.
• Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia exam.
• Driver's license copy required for consideration.
• Two professional references: 1 supervisor (last 12 months) and 1 supervisor/peer (last 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Operate in Neuro Telemetry 4West of a 22-bed acute care unit.
• Work in a Level 2 Trauma Center setting.
• Care for stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI and mixed med tele patients.
• Patient nurse ratio of 1:3–4.
• Read/interpret telemetry strips; no drips titration.
• Utilize Cerner EMR; support by 2 Monitor Techs.
• Floating to IMCU or Med/Surg as needed.
• Bedside Shift Report focus on patient experience and HCAHPS.

Requirements

• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Work in the Neuro Tele 4West unit of an acute care hospital with 22 beds
• Level 2 Trauma Center setting
• Patient population includes stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI, and mixed med tele cases
• Patient ratio of 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Central Telemetry Monitoring with GE Apex Telemetry boxes supported by 2 Monitor Techs
• Nurses are not required to titrate drips but must read and interpret telemetry strips
• Respiratory equipment on unit includes BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC (no ventilators)
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 6:45-7:15
• Self-scheduling by seniority with schedules made about 3 weeks in advance
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun for days)
• No call or standby requirements
• First to float, with floating to IMCU (2West) or Med/Surg departments
• Participate in Bedside Shift Report with a strong focus on patient experience, HCAHPS scores, and core measures, particularly stroke measures
• Unit staffing includes one Nurse Shift Manager and one Resource/Break RN who do not take patient assignments
• 1-2 Unit Aides support the nursing team
• Unit is typically at full capacity of 22 patients and is very fast-paced
• Holiday coverage required as part of the permanent staff rotation
• Navy scrub color required
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
