Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry IMC Float Pool in Maine. The ideal candidate will have a Maine (or compact) RN license, BLS, and at least 2 years of inpatient acute care experience with Level 1 Trauma exposure in a large facility.

Travel experience is required, with no on-call duties. Expect day shifts 0700-1930, floating across Medical, Surgical, and Cardiology units, and caring for 1:4 to 1:6 patient ratios depending on unit and stretch conditions.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (State of Maine or compact) required.
• BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years inpatient acute care hospital experience required.
• Level 1 Trauma experience required in a facility with 500+ beds.
• Minimum 1 year travel experience required.
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Driver's License required for consideration.
• 2 professional references required.

Responsibilities

• Float Pool position covering Medical, Surgical, and Cardiology units within the facility.
• Day shift schedule from 0700-1930.
• Patient ratios typically 1:4 on days (up to 1:5 when stretched) and 1:5 on nights (up to 1:6 when stretched).
• Units range from 15 beds to 40+ beds depending on where staff is floated.
• Uses Abbott Plum Pumps and EPIC EMR.
• Will float every shift to multiple different units.
• No on-call requirements.
• Weekend hours will vary based on unit need.
• Care for patients floated across Medical, Surgical, and Cardiology units based on facility need.
• Education modules will be assigned by the facility's Education Department for Day 1 onboarding.
• Flexibility is essential given variable unit assignments and patient populations.
• RTO should be kept to a minimum, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract.

• Candidates located within 90 miles of any affiliated facility are considered local and not eligible for renewals or extensions
• RTO should be kept to a minimum, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract
• Candidates with prior employment at an affiliated facility within the past 12 months should disclose this during consideration
• First-time travelers are not preferred; prior travel or float pool experience is strongly recommended for success in this role
