American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift in California. The role requires an active CA RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and the ability to read EKG strips.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips and have at least two years of recent Med/Surg/tele or post-op experience. This travel-friendly assignment offers generous compensation with housing allowance, licensure and travel reimbursements, and per diem.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg/Tele experience.
• Able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Competent with Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips.
• Two professional references with dates and eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Acute care MedSurg/Tele unit with 38 beds, 8 tele beds.
• Patient ratio 1:5; common MedSurg and post-op cases.
• 12-hour night shifts starting at 6:45 AM with bedside report.
• Every other weekend; may float to Tele unit.
• Cerner EMR used; charge nurse assists with breaks.
• Hospitalist/ICU coverage in house; 24/7 RT and Pharmacy support.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring CA RN licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand, no pending licenses accepted
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Must be competent in reading and interpreting EKG strips
• Must be competent administering Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
• Two professional references required: one supervisor reference within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (Basic) exam prior to acceptance, within 24-48 hours, with a maximum of two attempts

Responsibilities

• Acute care MedSurg/Tele unit with 38 beds, 8 designated as tele beds

• Common diagnoses include general MedSurg and post-op general and ortho patients
• 12-hour night shifts, starting at 6:45 AM, with bedside report
• Every other weekend required

• Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage in house, with 24/7 RT and Pharmacy support
• Fast-paced unit with a 2-hallway layout
• Facility-wide orientation is held at a separate location from the assigned hospital
• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Scrub color is navy, with undershirts in navy, white, or black; navy scrub jackets optional
• Holiday coverage requires working 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with holiday time off considered but not guaranteed
• Self-scheduling is available with schedules posted 4 weeks out, finalized by the manager
• Extra shifts and shift trades may be available through the self-scheduling system
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any facility within the associated health system in the past year
• On first day of orientation, a pass/fail sterile technique test is administered for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Failure of the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or sterile technique test on the second attempt results in ineligibility with the health system's Sacramento and Arizona facilities for 6 months
