Job summary

American Traveler is actively seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Gardner, MA. Requires 2 years of busy med/surg telemetry with active MA RN license, BLS/ACLS, and Meditech experience. Telemetry, neuro, respiratory and post-surgical care may be required.

Evening shifts 3:00 PM–11:30 PM; every other weekend/holiday; Omnicell and Expanse documentation used. Travel-friendly role with generous housing allowance and travel/licensure reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Active MA RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years med/surg telemetry experience
• Meditech charting experience required
• Experience with 1:5 to 1:6 patient ratios
• Experience managing cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
• Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and oxygen administration

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit care with 1:5 patient ratio
• Evening shift 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday
• No call or floating requirements
• Use Omnicell for meds and Meditech Expanse for documentation
• 16-hour orientation with a preceptor
• Care for neuro, respiratory, cardiac, renal and post-surgical patients
• Local candidates accepted at travel rate
• Must reside within 30 miles of the facility
• Respect first-time traveler policy and minimize time-off requests during initial weeks

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of busy med/surg telemetry experience without tele techs and an active MA RN license.

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CPI and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a busy med/surg telemetry unit without tele tech support
• Meditech charting system experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
• Community hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmias, and rapid response situations
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with post-surgical and ortho trauma patients preferred

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit with a patient ratio of 1:5
• Evening shift, 5x8-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No call or floating requirements
• Uses Omnicell for medication management and Meditech Expanse for documentation
• 16-hour unit orientation with a preceptor, either two 8-hour or two 12-hour shifts
• Care for patients with a range of neurological, respiratory, cardiac, renal, and post-surgical conditions
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Local candidates accepted at the same travel rate
• Must reside within a 30-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Time off requests should be minimized, especially during the first two weeks of the assignment or as full weeks off
• Expect to work some holidays during the assignment
