Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele travel position in Des Moines, IA. The role requires 24 months of recent Med/Surg/Tele experience and charge nurse capability, plus an active IA license or compact license and BLS. Ep ic EMR experience and Heparin handling are required.

Shifts are 4x12s, with 48 hours weekly and weekend rotations. Travel housing is provided with generous benefits; candidates must reside within 50 miles and have completed a prior travel contract

Qualifications

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required.
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required.
• Minimum 24 months Med/Surg/Med/Surg Tele experience required.
• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the past 18 months.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Experience with Heparin required.
• Charge nurse experience required.
• Telemetry/cardiac background highly preferred.
• Driver's license required for consideration.
• Preceptor experience a plus.
• Driver's license required for consideration.
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg unit with 15 beds serving all med/surg patients.
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1.
• Uses Heparin drips and remote telemetry monitoring.
• Days shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week possible).
• Weekend rotation required, every other or every third weekend.
• Float across all campuses within contracted skillset/unit.
• Deliver comprehensive med/surg nursing care in a collaborative unit.
• Support colleagues' learning and growth.
• Deliver comprehensive med surg nursing care within a growing, collaborative unit culture.
• Team values individuals who can adapt to change and support colleagues' learning and growth.
• Navy blue, solid-color scrubs required.
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the following: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, unless the unit is closed.
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address.
• Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility.
• Department prefers candidates open to extending beyond the initial 13-week assignment.
