Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment in West Virginia. Candidates must hold an active WV or compact RN license and have at least 2 years of RN experience, including 1 year in a related specialty.

The role includes a 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit, 7am-7pm days, and every other weekend. Travelers receive housing allowance, benefits from Day 1, and per diem options. Flu vaccine is seasonally required; Covid vaccine is not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of in-specialty experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from past 2 years
• Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Responsibilities

• 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit caring for cardiac, vascular, surgical, pulmonary, and telemetry patients
• Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7am-7pm, weekdays
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required as needed
• Charting completed in Cerner
• Orientation held every other Thursday
• Located in a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital that is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
• Facility has 838 total staffed beds
• Scrub color required is royal blue/white for RNs
• Free parking provided for travelers
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption is documented; not required outside this window
• Covid vaccine not required
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those within 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• RTO must be discussed with the manager during the interview process; no blanket restrictions, but schedule cannot be guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Non-billable training modules required prior to start, typically taking 2-6 hours to complete
