American Traveler, LLC. seeks an RN for the Emergency Department Holding Unit at a major teaching hospital and Level IV Trauma Center in West Virginia.

You will care for adult and geriatric patients with a 5:1 ratio during night shifts (7p-7a) and may float to the main ED as needed, with no on-call requirements. Applicants must hold a WV or Compact RN license, have 2+ years RN experience with 1 year in specialty, and possess BLS/ACLS/PALS and CPI.

• Active WV or Compact RN license required

• BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA) certified
• CPI certification required
• Cerner charting experience
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and respiratory care skills
• Experience with ventilated patients and tracheostomy care
• Prior charge nurse/manager references preferred
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric cases and heart/cardiac drips

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department Holding Unit position requiring WV or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience with 1 year in-specialty.

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of in-specialty experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA-issued)
• CPI certification required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• MS/Tele, Telemetry, and ER Holding experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy including accessing ports, blood product administration, peripheral line care, and starting IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with ventilated patient and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience managing neurological/psychiatric cases including CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
• Experience with Heparin protocols and managing cardiac drips (no titration)
• Minimum 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required

Responsibilities

• Work in the ED Holding Unit of a major teaching hospital and Level IV Trauma Center
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 5:1
• Night shift 3x12 hours (7p-7a), weekdays with every other weekend required
• Floating to the main ED required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Cerner EMR used for charting
• Orientation held every other Thursday
• Provide nursing care within the ED Holding Unit, supporting patients awaiting inpatient placement
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medically exempt with documentation
• Covid vaccine not required
• Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue/White for RNs
• Free parking provided for travelers
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the broader health system (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, with case-by-case consideration for those between 75-100 miles at the same rate
• First-time travelers accepted if they have appropriate experience
