Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology Chemo Certified Med/Surg position. Active OH or compact RN license is required, with BLS, ACLS, and ONS/ONCC Chemo Certification. At least one year of inpatient hematology-oncology experience is needed, preferably with travel nursing background.

Responsibilities include inpatient oncology care, high blood product usage, and EPIC charting. Night shifts, 3x12s, with potential rotation and variable weekends.

Qualifications

• Active Ohio or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• ONS/ONCC Chemo Certification required.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
• At least 1 year inpatient hematology-oncology experience within last 12 months.
• Active, current acute care oncology experience.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient oncology unit caring for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients, adults and geriatrics.
• Handle high volume blood product administration, IV antibiotics, electrolyte management.
• Maintain staffing ratio goals (1:4 to 1:5).
• Night shift: 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30) with possible rotation.
• No set scheduling; shifts reviewed every 4 weeks.
• Occasional weekend requirements; charting in EPIC.
• Focus on infection prevention and patient falls prevention.
• Manage oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome and sepsis.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology Chemo Certified Med/Surg position requiring ONS/ONCC chemo certification and at least one year of inpatient hematology oncology experience.

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, ONS/ONCC Chemo Certification
• Preferred certification: NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years overall nursing experience required
• At least 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience required, current within the last 12 months
• Must have active, current acute care experience in the oncology specialty
• Prior travel nursing experience required, with travel experience from an inpatient unit
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: IV therapy/infusions, port accessing and management, blood and blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, recognition of abnormal lab values, interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Experience caring for patients with leukemia/blood dyscrasias and lymphoma/non-Hodgkins lymphoma required; multiple myeloma experience preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

• Utilize rapid response teams as needed
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees ineligible for travel assignments at this facility
• Required to complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly upon accepting offer, including lifetime background checks
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
• First time travelers will not be considered for this position
