Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a Med/Surg unit in Georgia. Requires GA or compact RN license and prior travel assignment experience. 12-hour day shifts (6:45a-7:15p) on a 29-bed Oncology unit with 1:5 patient ratios, sometimes 1:6. MEDITECH EMR used; travel and housing bonuses offered.

Required: BLS; NIHSS and ONS certifications preferred for chemo administration; 2 years chemo exp preferred; must be >75 miles from the facility; travel experience required.

Qualifications

• Active GA or compact RN license required.
• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• NIHSS certification preferred.
• ONS certification preferred for chemotherapy administration.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required.
• 2 years of specialty experience required for chemotherapy administration; no first-time travelers for this component.
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement.
• Driver's license information required at submission.

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting on a 29-bed Oncology unit (7th floor) with outpatient treatment overflow.
• Patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally 1:6.
• Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and hematology cases.
• Uses MEDITECH EMR for charting and orders.
• 12-hour day shifts, 6:45a–7:15p; every other weekend and holiday rotation.
• Charge nurse role assigned from staffing grid; nurse aide support typically 3 per day.

• Nurse aide support available, typically 3 per day
• Central telemetry monitoring in use, though reading strips is not required
• Rare floating to medical acute units
• 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Caribbean Blue scrub color required
• Outpatient area patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment if running late and the outpatient area closes
• Candidates previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• First-time travelers may be considered, except for chemotherapy administration which requires prior specialty experience
