American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a day shift assignment in New Jersey. Requires 2+ years of oncology experience and NJ or compact RN license. Travel nursing experience and no cancellations preferred.

Position includes 3x12-hour shifts, day shift, and potential float to other units. BLS, Nursys verification, and COVID vaccination are required.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required.
• 2 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience required; less than 2 years with strong oncology background considered.
• BLS certification required to start.
• Current Nursys verification required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required with no cancellations.
• Must pass Basic Arrhythmia Exam with minimum 80% (no retakes).
• Proficiency in systematic EKG rhythm interpretation and rhythm identification.
• IV therapy/infusions and line care required; ports and PICC care expected.
• Chemotherapy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an inpatient Med/Surg Oncology unit.
• Day shift 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM.
• Float to other units as needed, including Ridgewood Observation Unit.
• Utilize Meditech EMR; support oncology patients.
• Maintain compliance with pre-employment and orientation requirements.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a day shift assignment requiring 2+ years of oncology experience and a NJ or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license
• 2 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience required (less than 2 years considered only with strong oncology background)
• BLS certification required to start
• Current Nursys verification required
• Prior travel nursing experience required with no clinical or professional cancellations
• Must pass a Basic Arrhythmia Exam with a minimum score of 80%, no retakes permitted
• Proficiency in systematic EKG rhythm interpretation, heart rate calculations, and identification of atrial, ventricular, junctional, paced rhythms, and heart blocks
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, accessing and managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience administering chemotherapy preferred
• One supervisory/manager reference dated within one year of assignment start required
• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination series and booster required

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Float to other units as needed, including the Ridgewood Observation Unit
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care to an inpatient oncology population
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted at the local rate
• Candidates with NJ work history in the past 7 years must provide accurate employer verification details for facility review
• Pre-employment lab work must be started within two business days of offer acceptance
• Orientation includes required modules, with additional annual specialty modules as needed
