Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring pediatric oncology experience and NC or Compact RN licensure.

Open to first-time travelers within a 75-mile radius; 13-week assignment with 3x12-hour nights and every-other-weekend work schedule. Requires BLS, PALS, chemotherapy certifications, and APHON/ONS credentials.

Qualifications

• Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand.
• Current BLS, PALS, Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC), and APHON certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Pediatric oncology experience required.

Responsibilities

• Oncology unit setting specializing in pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant care.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Requires working every other weekend.
• Bi-weekly orientation schedule.
• 13-week assignment length.
• Provide comprehensive care to pediatric oncology and BMT patients, including chemotherapy administration and symptom management.
• Collaborate closely with the pediatric care team to support patient and family education.
• Manage oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis.
• Administer blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals as needed.
• Perform wound care, chest tube management, and central line care
• Maintain neutropenic precautions and proper isolation/PPE protocols
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with no exemptions
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must not have been employed within the last 6 months
• RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum

• Skilled in IV therapy, central line/port care, and PICC line management
• Experience managing bone marrow transplant patients, including graft-versus-host disease and stem cell therapies
• Knowledge of pain management techniques including PCA pumps and IV push narcotics
• 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
