Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift in Colorado. The unit has 36 beds and requires an active CO or Compact RN license, BLS, and at least two years of acute care experience.

Epic is used for charting, and oncology/chemotherapy certifications are preferred but not required. Responsibilities include direct patient care on an inpatient oncology unit, managing chemotherapy administration and side effects, and coordinating with the team.

Qualifications

• Epic charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 36 beds.
• Night shift 3×12 hours 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
• Weekend shifts as needed.
• Floating within scope including to sister facilities.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios 1:4 day / 1:5 night; may flex.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Navy scrubs required.
• Provide direct patient care to oncology patients including chemotherapy.
• Manage chemotherapy side effects and related symptoms.
• Provide psychosocial support and hospice coordination.
• Perform wound care and related procedures as needed.
• Maintain neutropenic precautions and PPE protocols.
• First-time travelers welcome.
• Maximum 10 RTO days per 13-week contract with blackout periods.
• No blocked scheduling requests.
• Local candidates within 75 miles may be considered.

• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years acute care experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Oncology certification (OCN/ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Experience with IV therapy, port access/management, and central/PICC line care
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis
• Experience administering chemotherapy via multiple routes preferred
• Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 36 staffed beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating within scope required, including to sister facilities based on facility needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 (day) and 1:5 (night), which may flex up based on staffing needs
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system
• Navy scrubs required
• Provide direct patient care to inpatient oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Manage symptom control for patients experiencing nausea, neuropathy, altered mental status, and other treatment-related side effects
• Provide psychosocial support including advanced directive discussions and hospice care coordination
• Perform wound care, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, and foley catheter management as needed
• Maintain neutropenic precautions and proper isolation/PPE protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during select weeks
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be considered
