Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Outpatient Clinic Infusion position in Illinois. Requires OCN certification and prior charge nurse experience, with 2+ years in both oncology and non-oncology infusion settings.

The role is in a teaching hospital with EPIC charting, blood products, port-a-Caths/PICC lines, and a 5x8-hour day schedule (Mon-Fri, 08:00–16:30). Travel and housing allowances are part of the benefits package.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• BLS and OCN certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in both oncology and non-oncology infusion required.
• Previous charge nurse experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience required.
• EPIC charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient Clinic Infusion unit within a teaching hospital setting.
• Treats general oncology/hematology patients and non-oncology patients requiring infusions or injections for conditions such as Alzheimer's, CKD, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, iron deficiency anemia, dehydration, IV antibiotic infections, high cholesterol, and asthma.
• Average daily census of 46 with 35 visits per day across 2 rooms and 16 beds.
• Day shift ratio of 1:8.
• Performs blood and platelet transfusions, accesses Port-a-Caths and PICC lines.
• Uses a phlebotomy machine for therapeutic phlebotomies, a blood warmer, and a Paxman Cold Capping Machine.
• Schedule is 5x8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 0800-1630.
• No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements.
• No floating to sister facilities required.
• Navy scrub color required.
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted.
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.
• Previous permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler.
• Standard travelers residing outside a 75-mile radius may stay for an 18-month period and must take a 3-month break after 18 months.
