Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Infusion RN for a day-shift assignment in West Virginia. The role requires at least 2 years of RN experience with oncology infusion skills and the ability to manage infusion therapies and port access.

The travel position features a 5x8 hour day schedule (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), Cerner charting, and no on-call duties, with generous housing and travel reimbursements available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license (pending license accepted)
• BLS certification required; Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, infusion, and port access/management
• Experience with central line and PICC line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push, continuous infusion, and oral routes
• Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
• Experience managing and disposing of cytotoxic spills and handling body fluids post-chemotherapy
• Experience administering blood and blood products preferred
• Experience with biotherapy administration (Interferons, Interleukins) preferred
• Infusion Center, inpatient oncology, and outpatient oncology experience preferred
• Minimum of 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Must have a clean license with no prior suspensions; probationary actions considered case-by-case
• Flu vaccine required unless documented medical exemption from an allergist or physician

Responsibilities

• Cancer center infusion unit setting
• Daily caseload of approximately 70 patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• No on-call responsibilities required
• No floating required within facility or to sister facilities
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Provide infusion and chemotherapy administration for oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Offer patient and family education and psychosocial support
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Orientation held every other Thursday for new RNs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered case-by-case for facility approval
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last date worked before returning as a traveler
• Current Vandalia Health System employees (including CAMC, Mon Health, and affiliated hospitals) are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system
• No RTO restrictions
