American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Hospice position in Texas with outpatient hospice experience and a TX or Compact RN license. The role requires current BLS, a valid driver's license, and a minimum of 2 years in outpatient hospice care.

Responsibilities include 4x9 night shifts (Mon-Thu, 5pm–3am) with on-call from 3am–8am, covering triage and visits as needed. Onsite drug screening is required and substances must be avoided prior to start.

Qualifications

Active RN license (TX or Compact) in hand.
Current BLS certification.
Valid driver's license required.
Minimum 2 years of outpatient hospice experience required.
Altera charting experience preferred but not required.
Skilled in medication administration and pain management per WHO Analgesic Ladder.
Experience in symptom assessment and management for complex hospice needs.
End-of-life care including death pronouncement and family support.
Knowledge of advance directives and ethical/legal hospice issues.
Experience in patient/family goal setting, intake assessment, and education.

Responsibilities

Provide home health/hospice nursing care.
Work 4x9 hour night shifts: Mon-Thu, 5pm–3am with 1 hour lunch.
On-call 3am–8am Mon-Thu nights, shared between two RNs.
On-call duties may include triage calls or patient visits.
Ensure comprehensive hospice care with pain management and symptom control.
Conduct intake assessments and collaborate on care goals with patients and families.
Educate and support patients and families throughout hospice care.
Onsite drug screen upon arrival; positive results cancel candidacy with no exceptions.
Candidates should avoid substances (including CBD) that could cause positive screens.
Complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting offer or have plan.

Knowledgeable in advanced directives and ethical/legal issues in hospice care
Experienced in patient/family goal setting, intake assessment, and education and support
Skilled in clinical documentation of hospice eligibility

Clinicians must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a completion plan in place
Local candidates within the 150-mile radius are accepted for RN positions
Previous permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a traveler
