Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Hospice RN for home-based end-of-life care in Washington state. Ideal candidates have OASIS and HCHB experience, and at least 1 year in hospice or home health.

Role involves a 5x8 day shift schedule, 60-mile territory, mileage reimbursement, and an orientation program. Travel required; iPad provided for charting and documentation.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year recent hospice/home health experience required.
• OASIS experience required for Start of Care assessments.
• Proficiency in HCHB EMR required.
• Active driver's license and personal transportation required.
• Skilled in end-of-life care, symptom management, pain management, and postmortem care.

Responsibilities

• Home Health/Hospice setting providing care to geriatric patients.
• Caseload of approximately 5-7 patients per day.
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday.
• Territory covers up to a 60-mile radius from the hub office.
• Traveler must be flexible with assigned territory.
• On-call rotation may be required.
• All charting must be completed by 9am the following morning.
• iPad provided for documentation.
• Provide comprehensive hospice care including symptom assessment, pain management, and end-of-life support.
• Conduct patient/family education, goal setting, and intake assessments.
• Perform death pronouncement and postmortem care as needed.
• Scrubs required in any color; no jeans permitted.
• Cell phone not required for role; iPad provided.
• Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate.
• Monday orientation required, including completion of billable training modules.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role.
• Former permanent employees must be separated for at least 6 months and approved by HR before returning as a traveler.
• Travel pairs accepted, though each traveler is assigned their own territory and must have personal transportation.
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application.
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate.

• Experience with advanced directives, ethical/legal issues, and palliative sedation
• Knowledge of medication administration and pain management including WHO Analgesic Ladder and equianalgesic dosing
