Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a night shift at a 130-bed Iowa hospital. The role requires an IA license or compact license, BLS/ACLS, 24 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry experience, and proficiency with common IV drips.

Responsibilities include floating across Med Surg, Behavioral Health, ED and ICU as needed, with a 1:6 patient ratio and EPIC EMR usage. Travel housing and per diems are offered.

Qualifications

• Active IA RN license or compact/multi-state license required.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required.
• Minimum 24 months of Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Tele or Med Surg/Telemetry experience.
• Proficient with heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin drips.
• Able to read EKG/ECG strips including rhythm interpretation.
• EPIC EMR experience required.
• De-escalation certification preferred (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA).
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred; can be completed during onboarding.
• Driver's license required for consideration.
• First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of nursing experience; hospital experience prioritized.

• Primary assignment is Med Surg, floating to units as needed based on census and staffing.
• 130-bed hospital unit with 1:6 patient ratios.
• Utilizes EPIC EMR system.
• Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts totaling 48 hrs/week; option for 36 hrs/week.
• Every other weekend required; no on-call.
• Complete Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with ≥80% on onboarding.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a night shift position requiring an IA or compact RN license and at least 24 months of Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, or Tele experience.

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Tele, or Med Surg/Telemetry required
• Must be proficient and comfortable managing heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin drips
• Must be able to confidently read EKG/ECG strips including rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia identification
• EPIC EMR experience required
• De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA) preferred, can be completed during onboarding
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred, can be completed during onboarding
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred
• First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of nursing experience, hospital/medical center experience prioritized

Responsibilities

• Float pool position with no home unit, requiring flexibility across Med Surg, Behavioral Health, ED, ICU, and some post-procedural areas based on facility needs
• Primary assignment is Med Surg, floating to units where assistance is needed most based on census and staffing
• 130-bed hospital unit with 1:6 patient ratios
• Utilizes EPIC EMR
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts totaling 48 hrs/week, with accommodation for 36 hrs/week if preferred
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Must complete a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a passing score of 80% during onboarding
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN in the float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments in other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
