Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float in a hospital setting. The role requires 3 years of RN experience and 2 years of telemetry/med-surg work, with an active CA license. Night shift, 19:00–07:30, 3x12s, with every other weekend coverage.

Candidates must have ACLS/BLS/NIHSS, and be adept at rhythm interpretation, IV therapy, and post-procedure cardiac care. Travel or local candidates considered at travel rates; compliance and exam prerequisites apply.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required.
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience.
• Minimum 2 years Telemetry and Med-Surg experience.
• Total joint orthopedic experience required.
• Must be able to read and interpret rhythm strips.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Must pass onsite EKG competency exam and Relias EKG test prior to start.
• Experience in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience in cardiovascular care including pre/post cardiac procedures and MI care.
• Experience in IV therapy including central line/PICC management and starting IVs.
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and heparin protocols.
• Respiratory care including CPAP/BIPAP and oxygen administration.
• Oncology care including chemotherapy administration preferred.
• Isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac preferred.

Responsibilities

• Float position in a hospital setting, floating as needed.
• Care for respiratory/oncology med-surg patients including chemo and chronic ventilator patients.
• Patient population from adolescents to geriatrics with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30.
• Every other weekend coverage required.
• No on-call requirement.
• Allscripts charting experience preferred.
• RTO must be submitted with initial application and confirmed for full 13-week contract.

• Experience required in cardiovascular care including pre/post cardiac catheterization, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
• Experience required in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Experience required managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and heparin protocols
• Experience required in respiratory/thoracic care including chest tube management, CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience in oncology care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac preferred

Responsibilities

• MS/Tele Float position in a hospital setting, floating as needed
• Unit cares for respiratory/oncology med-surg patients, including chemotherapy and chronic ventilator patients, along with general med-surg and moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• Average census of 36 with 36 rooms/beds and a 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No on-call requirement
• Allscripts charting experience preferred
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Return staff reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed for the full 13-week contract
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Once RTO is submitted, changes are not permitted except to cancel requested time offRequired to wear royal blue scrubs
• Facility is smoke and nicotine-free; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
