Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift in West Virginia. This travel assignment requires a WV or compact RN license, BLS, and NIHSS certification, with ACLS preferred.

You will work on a telemetry-capable Medical-Surgical floor, 19:00-07:00, for 13 weeks using Meditech charting. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of RN experience, strong dysrhythmia management, wound care, and ability to manage IVs, central lines, PICC, and blood products.

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required.
• ACLS and CPI certifications preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Meditech charting system experience required.
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

Responsibilities

• Telemetry-capable Medical-Surgical floor nursing on night shift.
• 13-week assignment; 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00).
• Utilizes Meditech charting system and performs telemetry monitoring on-unit and remote.
• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
• Manage wound care, including wound vac management.
• Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA.
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula and oxygen administration.
• Complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing contract.
• Complete facility orientation and annual training modules.
• First-time travelers are not preferred.

• Experience with feeding tube care and management
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Skilled in blood product administration
• Experience with central line blood draws
• Peripheral line care and management experience
• Phlebotomy skills required
• PICC line management experience
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration)
• Experience caring for CVA patients
• Experience with port accessing and management
• Two professional references required for consideration
• PDF copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical floor with telemetry capabilities
• Night shift, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Utilizes Meditech charting system
• Performs telemetry monitoring both on-unit and remotely
• Utilizes Rapid Response/Code team protocols when needed
• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Manage patients requiring wound care, including wound vac management
• Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing contract
• Complete facility orientation and annual training modules
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this assignment
