Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with Nephrology unit experience to provide patient care on a Days shift schedule in Oklahoma City. An active OK or compact RN license and BLS are required.

Responsibilities include caring for patients from simple to complex conditions in the Medicine/Nephrology unit with 12-hour shifts (3 days/week). Travel assignments offer housing allowances, licensure reimbursements, and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Active RN license Oklahoma State Board or compact (eNLC).
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory and procedures.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in Medicine/Nephrology unit in a hospital.
• Provide care for a range of conditions from simple to complex.
• Work days: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours).
• Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required; charge experience a plus.
• Familiar with central line, Foley catheter care, and end-of-life care.
• Dialysis site care and avoidance of HD catheter use for blood draws.
• Document patient responses and coordinate with physicians.
• Assist physicians with exams and minor procedures; monitor vitals and interventions.
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products.
• Communicate care plans to patients and families; educate on procedures.
• Refer needs to appropriate staff and delegate tasks as needed.
• Candidates must reside outside 50-mile radius; extensions limited to 26 weeks with separation before reapplying.

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and delivers competent nursing care
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments, noting changes in physician orders
• Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Monitors and obtains physiological data, intervening as necessary
• Administers prescribed medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
• Communicates care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
• Educates patients and families on hospital procedures
• Refers patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegates tasks to support staff
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Extensions limited to one time for a total of 26 weeks, with a required 6-month separation before reapplying
