Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level II trauma hospital in Des Moines, IA. Requires 24 months Med/Surg experience and Level II trauma experience.

The role includes night shift 4x12s, 23-bed Med/Surg unit, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4-6, and potential COVID+ care with EPIC EMR. Travel and cross-campus assignments across Iowa Methodist facilities are expected.

Qualifications

Active RN license valid in Iowa or compact/multi-state license
BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
Minimum 24 months Med/Surg experience required
Pulmonary patient care experience required
Level II trauma experience required
Level I trauma experience and vent care with trach preferred
Driver's license required for consideration
Professional reference from supervisor preferred within last 24 months

Responsibilities

Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs available if preferred)
Med/Surg unit caring for Pulmonary/Med Surg population
Unit bed size 23 with nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4-6
May care for COVID+ patients
Uses Heparin drips
Float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
Use Epic EMR
Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit at a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
Holiday coverage during 1-2 of 3 winter holidays
Limited time off requests during winter holidays
Local candidates not accepted within 50 miles of facility
Past UnityPoint Health employees may not work travel assignments within UPH markets within 12 months

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level II trauma hospital in Des Moines, IA, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg experience and Level II trauma experience.

Requirements

Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg experience required
Pulmonary patient care experience required
Level II trauma experience required
Level I trauma experience and experience caring for pulmonary/ventilated patients on bi-pap with trach care highly preferred
Driver's license required for consideration
Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Responsibilities

Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs available if preferred)
Med/Surg unit caring for Pulmonary/Med Surg patient population
Unit bed size of 23 with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-6
May care for COVID+ patients

Required to work every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
No on-call requirements
Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist

Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit at a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
First-time travelers will be considered if the 2+ year Med/Surg experience requirement is met
Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
Limited time off requests permitted during the winter holiday period
Local candidates not accepted within 50 miles of the facility
Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) may not work travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
