Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position in Alabama. Requires AL or compact RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Responsibilities include direct patient care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients, wound care, IV therapy, and isolation precautions. Night shift with floating; RTO limited to 7 days; local candidates within 60 miles encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Active AL or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS certification via AHA required.
• Minimum 1 year Med/Surg experience.
• Night shift 19:00–07:00 with 3x12s or 4x12s option.
• Floating and weekends required; travel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients.
• Wound care, IV therapy, isolation precautions as needed.
• Charge nurse duties possible on occasion.
• Maintain patient safety and accurate charting.
• RTO requests limited to a maximum of 7 days; local candidates within 60 miles.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring AL or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Requirements

• Active AL or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification via AHA required
• Fit test required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Experience with IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac required
• Experience with peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management preferred
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA preferred
• Any charting system experience accepted
• Paragon charting experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Night shift, 3x12 schedule (19:00-7:00) with option for 4x12s
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• May be asked to charge occasionally
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• 30-minute lunch break required with no skipped meals
• On-call requirements not specified
• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients, including wound care, IV therapy, and isolation precautions
• RTO requests limited to a maximum of 7 days
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position
• Local candidates are considered for candidates residing within a 60-mile radius
