Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a night-shift RN for a Medical/Surgical unit in Louisiana. The role requires an active LA RN license or compact state, and BLS certification. BSN is preferred, with 1 year of Med/Surg experience preferred.

• BLS certification via AHA required.
• BSN preferred.
• 1 year of related Med/Surg nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acute Med/Surg unit focused on post-surgical patients including orthopedic, general surgery, and neuro populations.
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• 13-week assignment, full time.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing.
• Epic EMR used; experience is a plus but not required.
• Weekend shifts may be required based on scheduling needs.
• No on-call requirement.
• Floating to other units required.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education.
