Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Labor & Delivery on the day shift in Louisiana. This travel assignment runs 13 weeks with a 7:00 AM–7:00 PM schedule and requires AWHONN or NCC electronic fetal monitoring certification, plus active LA RN license and BLS/ACLS/NRP.

You'll be precepted during onboarding, enjoy a housing allowance and travel reimbursement, and no call or floating requirements with 1:1 and team ratios per protocol.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (LA state or compact).
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
• Current certification in AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Perinatal RN Residency or recent perinatal setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit caring for deliveries, circulating c-sections, antepartum patients, and newborn initial assessments.
• Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• 13-week assignment.
• Weekend rotation required.
• No call requirement.
• No floating required.
• Follow AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio standards: 1:1 for Pitocin induction/augmentation, 1:2 for cervical ripening, 1:2-3 for antepartum and triage, and 1:1 for immediate postpartum care.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process across assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocol and monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education.
