Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week teaching hospital assignment in New York, requiring an active NY RN license, Epic experience, and EFM certification.

Shifts are 7a-7p and 7p-7a on a 4x12 rotating schedule, every other weekend, with no on-call. First-time travelers are welcome; housing, travel, and licensure reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active NY RN license required; non-compact license not accepted.
• BLS/ACLS or OB-ACLS, NRP, and EFM certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
• Epic charting experience required; GE Centricity also in use.
• Experience with APGAR scoring, newborn care, and postpartum tasks.

Responsibilities

• Care for pregnant patients across gestational ages in a teaching hospital.
• Triage, labor, delivery, postpartum nursing and recovery.
• Use monitors and equipment including Epic, Monica, Neopuff, and Draeger warmers.
• Work 4x12 shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a) with every-other weekend.
• No on-call; floating within skillset as needed.

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week teaching hospital assignment requiring an active NY RN license, Epic experience, and EFM certification.

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN or LPN license required (NY is not compact); pending license not accepted
• BLS, ACLS or OB-ACLS, EFM certification, and NRP required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required include assisting with vaginal delivery, circulating for C-section, C-section recovery, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, and Pitocin/Terbutaline administration
• Experience with APGAR scoring, newborn delivery care, ID/security banding, and radiant warmers/thermoregulation required
• Foley catheter insertion/management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension care required
• NST, EFM, and IUPC placement/calibration experience required

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit within an acute care teaching hospital
• Cares for all pregnant patients at any gestational age accepted by the provider team
• Triage evaluates pregnant patients at any gestational age and postpartum patients within 6 weeks of delivery
• Uses GE Fetal & Telemetry Monitors, Monica wireless fetal monitoring, Neopuff, and Draeger newborn warmers
• Epic charting experience required; unit also uses Non-Epic-CPN/GE Centricity
• Day (7a-7p) and Night (7p-7a) 4x12 shifts on alternating schedule
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required within skillset
• Facility performs 100-200 births per month
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care in a Baby-Friendly, Magnet-recognized birthing unit
• Private birthing suites with on-unit ORs, advanced monitoring, and both OB and midwifery care available
• Supports family-centered births, lactation, hydrotherapy, and postpartum services
• Facility rated High Performing for maternity outcomes
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday, if needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RNs residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted; LPNs may apply locally
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
