Job summary

American Traveler Staffing Professionals is seeking an experienced Travel ICU RN with a Trauma Level I background for a Day shift assignment in San Diego, CA. Active California RN license and travel experience required; Epic/Cerner experience preferred.

The position features 3x12 hour days, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, with up to 13 weeks and five openings. Compensation includes weekly pay of up to $1,827 plus travel benefits; local candidates are not eligible.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU-specific experience, with recent ICU experience
• 1.5+ years of continuous specialty experience without breaks (excluding floating)
• Travel experience required: 1 year total and 6+ months continuous recent travel
• Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience within last 6 months
• Trauma Level I hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT/CVVHD, vasoactive and sedation drips, ICP monitoring and post-craniotomy care
• Copies of all required certifications and Nursys verification for consideration

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in Medical, Neuro, Surgical, or Trauma ICU settings depending on facility needs
• Float to other campuses or locations as needed, within skillset
• Work with Epic EMR system
• Manage ventilators and critical care interventions as assigned

Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a Trauma Level I background for a Day shift assignment requiring active CA licensure and travel experience.

Details

• ICU setting within a Trauma Level I hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Block scheduling for Friday/Saturday/Sunday may be considered
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4 week cycle and at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend
• Home base unit assigned, with potential to float to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED) across the organization's 5 hospitals depending on census
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Trauma Level I hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT/CVVHD, titration of vasoactive and sedation drips, and management of neurological conditions such as ICP monitoring and post-craniotomy care
• Copies of all required certifications and Nursys verification required for consideration, with no pending or expired certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in Medical, Neuro, Surgical, or Trauma ICU settings depending on facility needs
• Float requirements apply at or below skillset, with occasional floating to other campuses or locations
• Maximum 7 days of RTO permitted, with no additional requests after consideration
• No first-time travelers considered for this position
• Local candidates within a 100-mile radius are not eligible, except LVNs/MAs; candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are also considered local and ineligible
• Returning staff or travelers must wait 1 year after last assignment before reapplying
• Extensions capped at 1 year, followed by a required 1-year break before returning
• International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
• Interview availability required, including specific days/times and time zone
