American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position in a short-term acute care teaching hospital in Milwaukie, OR. The role requires a compact RN license and strong critical care skills, with Epic charting experience essential for chart documentation.

The position involves 3x12 hour nights, patient ratios typical for ICU and Med Surg units, and occasional floats to sister facilities. Willingness to work holidays is required.

Formación

• Active compact RN license required in hand at submission.
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience in a community hospital setting.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Strong monitoring and line-management skills including arterial and central lines.
• Ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management.
• Stroke care and hypothermia protocol familiarity preferred.
• ED experience is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU in a short-term acute care teaching hospital.
• Cover night shifts: 19:00–07:30, 3x12 hour shifts; every other weekend.
• Standby on-call and holiday coverage (3 of 5 major holidays).
• Float between units and sister facilities based on skillset needs.
• Maintain patient ratios: 1:2 in ICU; 1:3 Med Surg ICU; 1:4 Med Surg/ED.
• Document in Epic EMR and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Active compact RN license required in hand at time of submission


• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS


• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required


• Community hospital experience required


• Epic charting experience required


• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, arterial line and central line management, IV therapy, and blood product administration


• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ETT/NT suctioning, and ABG interpretation required


• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocols preferred


• ED experience considered a plus

Responsibilities

• Work in the ICU of a short-term acute care, teaching hospital with 59 total staff beds


• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30


• Every other weekend required


• Standby on-call required


• Patient ratios: 1:2 in ICU, 1:3 for Med Surg patients in ICU, 1:4 on Med Surg, and 1:4 in ED


• Floating between units and sister facilities based on skill set required


• Epic EMR used for charting


• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting managing cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal conditions


• Float to other units and sister facilities as needed based on skill set


• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)


• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible for the local rate


• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility


• First-time travelers are welcome to apply


• Must have personal vehicle for this assignment


• Scrubs of any color accepted; ICU scrubs are facility-provided


• No parking fees at this facility


• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
