American Traveler, LLC is seeking an experienced ICU RN with critical care background for a 13-week acute care assignment in West Virginia. The position requires WV or compact RN licensure and a strong ICU skillset.

The ideal candidate will have active state licensure, at least 2 years of ICU experience, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications; PALS and TNCC are preferred. EPIC EMR experience is a plus, as are balloon pump experiences for complex cases.

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS.
• PALS and TNCC certifications preferred.
• ACUTE CARE ICU experience required.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Work in a 20-bed ICU (MICU/SICU/Neuro) with 16-17 patients daily.
• Patient ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU; 1:3 in Stepdown.
• Support MICU/SICU and Stepdown needs for the facility.
• Common diagnoses include post cath lab, balloon pumps, CRRT.
• Uses EPIC EMR with data flowing into the system.
• 12-hour day shifts; every-other-weekend; rotating holidays.
• Travelers typically do not float outside the ICU.
• In-house RT 24/7, pharmacy 24/7, intensivist/hospitalist coverage.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with critical care experience for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring WV or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
• PALS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Acute care ICU experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Balloon pump experience a plus for consideration of those cases

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed ICU (MICU/SICU/Neuro) with average daily census of 16-17 patients
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3 in Stepdown
• Unit supports Stepdown needs for the facility and includes CCU acuity patients
• Common diagnoses include post cath lab, balloon pumps, ventriculostomies, and CRRT (NxStage) cases
• No open heart or bolt cases; thoracic surgery cases occur every other Thursday
• Uses EPIC EMR with data from monitors and vents flowing directly into the system
• Phillips cardiac monitors with central monitoring station, no monitor techs
• ICU Medical IV pumps used for all typical drips including moderate conscious sedation
• Vents (Servo & Hamilton) managed by RT; RN may silence alarms only
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-730p schedule
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Sat/Sun for days)
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Travelers typically do not float outside the ICU
• In-house RT 24/7, pharmacy 24/7, and intensivist/hospitalist coverage
• No IV team on the unit
• 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor following general hospital orientation
• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting supporting both MICU/SICU and Stepdown needs
• Designated charge nurse available 24/7, typically free of patient assignments but may take one patient if necessary
• Unit supports nursing students, Capstone students, and nurse externs for educational purposes
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue with navy or white jacket, white or navy undershirt, natural hair color only, no pink or blue, and tattoos must be covered
• COVID vaccination required for consideration, with medical or religious exemption requests requiring formal approval
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
• Previous perm staff or travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Cumulative traveler assignments within WVU system are capped at 1 year before a 2-year break is required
• Facility attempts to avoid scheduling travelers on holidays when possible
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level
