Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment in Lafayette, LA. This role requires ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications and prior travel nursing experience.

The ICU unit handles critical patients with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, 3x12 hour shifts, and potential on-call needs during emergencies. Housing allowance and travel reimbursements are provided to eligible travelers.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (LA or Compact) in hand at submission.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience.
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Preferred TNCC certification.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Skills in IV therapy, lines, blood products, TPN/lipids.
• Experience with ventilators, ABG interpretation, respiratory failure.

Responsibilities

• Care for critically ill ICU patients with high acuity.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours (18:45–07:15).
• 1:2 patient ratio, every other weekend.
• May support Emergency Team during emergencies.
• Operate in multiple ICU populations (CVICU, Neuro ICU, etc.).

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications and prior travel nursing experience.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Preferred certification: TNCC
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/Lipids
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care
• Experience managing renal patients including CRRT/CVVHD and AKI preferred
• Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy care preferred
• Current NURSYS report required, updated within 4 weeks of submission
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RN references not accepted)

Responsibilities

• ICU setting with an average daily census of 44 patients
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No call-in requirement
• Epic charting system preferred
• Care of critically ill patients including ventilator management, cardiac drips, and continuous sedation
• Experience with CVICU, Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, and Trauma ICU patient populations welcomed
• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU environment supporting multiple specialty populations
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring on-site presence during declared emergency events
• Scrub color required: royal blue
• Orientation held five days a week
• Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be considered
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
