Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position in New Jersey. The role requires 1.5 years of ICU experience and an active NJ or compact RN license.

The nurse will work 7:00 PM–7:30 AM for 36 hours weekly, with Epic charting and travel eligibility for first-time travelers. BLS/ACLS are required; NIHSS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred.
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem dysfunction/failure management.
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial/central lines, and continuous IV sedation.
• Proficient in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning.
• Knowledgeable in isolation precautions and PPE use.

Responsibilities

• Work in the ICU department of a hospital environment.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week.
• Epic charting system used; experience preferred.
• Unit accepts first-time travelers.
• Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients with complex medical needs.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler.
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation.
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
