Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift assignment in Fishersville, VA. A VA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of ICU experience are required.

You’ll work 3x12-hour nights (19:00–07:00) with a 1:2–1:3 patient ratio in a 255-bed acute care ICU, for a 26-week assignment with 36 hours per week and occasional weekend coverage. Meditech charting and infection control are part of your daily duties.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience required, 2 years preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care/management required.
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT) required.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips required.
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required.
• Experience with chronic/acute renal failure required.
• Phlebotomy and infection prevention/isolation precautions competency required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU environment.
• Float within scope to related units as needed during low census or high-need periods.
• Adhere to zero-tolerance drug policy and complete required screenings.
• Maintain Meditech charting and infection prevention protocols.
• Support patient safety and quality initiatives in a fast-paced ICU setting.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring VA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of ICU experience.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU environment
• Scrub color requirement: black or Caribbean blue
• Fit testing required, with candidates expected to be clean-shaven unless a provider-approved exemption is obtained in advance
• Zero-tolerance drug policy, including no acceptance of medical marijuana cards
• Drug screening required both during compliance and again on day one onsite
• RTO must be pre-approved and finalized prior to assignment confirmation, with expected holiday coverage based on number of holidays falling within the assignment
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside 50+ miles from the facility
• Not eligible if previously worked as permanent staff at this facility within the past 24 months
