Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 15-week night shift assignment in California. A CA license and at least 2 years of critical care experience are required.

You will work 3x12 hour shifts (19:00–07:30), with potential float to DOU/Tele, and a 1:2 patient ratio. Epic and Allscripts charting are used, and references plus certifications must be provided.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years ICU/critical care experience required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, MAB or VIP, NIHSS.
• CCRN certification preferred.
• References and copies of required certifications must be included.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care in ICU/CCU during night shifts.
• Administer emergency medications and procedural sedation.
• Manage multi-system organ failure and ventilator support.
• Perform phlebotomy, wound care, and infection prevention practices.
• Light charting in Epic and Allscripts; possible unit float as needed.
• Maintain patient safety and ensure isolation precautions.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 15-week night shift assignment requiring CA licensure and at least 2 years of critical care experience.

Requirements

• Active California RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, MAB or VIP, and NIHSS
• CCRN certification preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and ABGs
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration
• Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol (Arctic Sun)
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT preferred
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care and sheath removal preferred
• Ultrasound-guided PIV and Level 1/Rapid Infuser skills preferred
• References required at time of submission
• Copies of required certifications must be included for consideration

Responsibilities

• ICU/CCU unit on night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Possible float to DOU, Tele, or Med Tele units
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Epic and Allscripts charting systems used
• Provide comprehensive critical care to ICU/CCU patients, including multi-system organ failure management
• Administer and manage emergency medications and procedural sedation
• Perform phlebotomy, wound care, and infection prevention practices including isolation precautions and PPE use
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage surgical wounds with drains or wound vac
• Must pass an onsite advanced EKG exam (80% or higher) prior to starting; one attempt allowed
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 3 RTO days for the entire contract
• Must be willing to work holidays
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Return staff considered on a case-by-case basis
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
