Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in California. Requires 2+ years of ICU experience and active CA RN licensure.

Responsibilities include caring for an 8-bed ICU, patient ratios of 1:1-2, and self-scheduling for 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7:30am). Proficiency with Cerner EMR and ventilators is required; on-call and floating may apply.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Experience with ventilators including Galileo and G5 models.
• Cerner EMR experience.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and active CA RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Experience with ventilators including Galileo and G5 models
• Cerner EMR experience
• Completion of Relias Dysrhythmia exam required prior to confirming offer, within 24-48 hours of acceptance
• Copy of driver's license required to verify legal name matches government-issued ID
• Two supervisor/peer references required, one within past 12 months and one within past 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• No nurse aides on the unit
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am, with self-scheduling finalized by manager

• May be placed on-call if not needed in the department
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No in-house hospitalist or intensivist; utilizes Telemed robot
• No dedicated IV team
• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Care for a general medical/surgical ICU population including stable CVA post-TPA, respiratory failure, manual proning, COPD, CHF, and DKA
• No CABG or neuro surgery cases on this unit
• Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets if worn must be navy
• Overtime and extra shifts available through self-scheduling, with schedules released 4 weeks in advance
• Pass/Fail sterile technique test administered on first day of orientation for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Failure of required testing may result in a 6-month do-not-use status with the health system in this region
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility within this health system network in the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
