American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of ICU experience, an active NC or Compact RN license, and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, with EPIC EMR experience preferred.

The assignment features 12-hour nights (1900–0700), 36 hours per week, and a rotating weekend schedule. You’ll work in a 337-bed ICU with 1:1–2 patient ratios, plus Navigator support from CNAs, pharmacy, and case

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• Minimum 12 months of core ICU experience in unit specialty.
• Critical care skills including insulin, vasopressor, sedation drips, invasive line management, rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, wound care/dressing changes.
• EPIC EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• ICU patient care in a 337-bed hospital ICU with average census 26.
• Treats a wide variety of ICU diagnoses (excluding Cardiac Surgical).
• RN to patient ratio 1:1-2.
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours/week.
• Every other weekend rotation.
• No on-call requirements.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty, with most recent experience within the last year
• Critical care skills required including insulin, vasopressor, and sedation drips, invasive line management (ART/CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Medical Intensive Care Unit in a 337-bed hospital with 30 beds and an average census of 26
• Treats a wide variety of ICU diagnoses except Cardiac Surgical, including Sepsis, ARDS, GI Bleeds, DKA, Cardiac Arrest, Withdrawal, and Renal Failure
• RN to patient ratio of 1:1-2 for both day and night shifts
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital), within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, and Rover communication devices
• Work alongside CNAs, charge nurses, clinical supervisors, dedicated pharmacists, case managers, respiratory therapists, nurse educators, hospitalists, and intensivists
• 24/7 phlebotomy and IV/VAT team support available
• Unit clerk, charge nurse, and clinical supervisor responsible for telemetry monitoring (no remote tele monitoring)
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
