Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in New Mexico. Candidate must have 2+ years ICU experience and float to ER and Med-Surg units as needed. Active NM or Compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, and a driver’s license are required.

Expect 12-bed ICU care, high patient acuity, and a 6:30 AM–6:30 PM schedule with holiday coverage. Vents, titratable drips, and medication mixing skills are preferred. MedHost EMR is used for documentation.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in NM or Compact jurisdiction.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• 2+ years of ICU experience required.
• ER and Med-Surg experience is preferred.
• TNCC certification preferred.
• Experience with vents, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene care preferred.
• No certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment.
• Active driver’s license required for consideration.
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
• Fingerprinting required for all NM travelers.

Responsibilities

• 12-bed ICU with a 1:2-3 patient ratio.
• ICU total patient care including ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and hygiene care.
• Day shift, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
• Floating to ER and Med-Surg per float rotation log.
• When floating to ER, perform general nursing tasks (passing meds, transporting patients, starting IVs, blood draws).
• When floating to Med-Surg, may take up to a full assignment of 6 patients or act as an aide for up to 12 patients.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses MedHost EMR.
• Scrubs of any color accepted.
• Provide direct ICU care and support other departments during floating.
• Holiday coverage required.
• 48-hour guaranteed weeks not approved.
• Blocked scheduling may be accommodated.
• RTO requests must be <1 week.
• Local candidates within 50 miles not considered.
• Travelers previously employed as CHS staff within 2 years not eligible.

• Travelers who worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
