Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed ICU within an acute care hospital setting.
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity.
• Manage neuro, oncology, CVA, post-surgical and complex ICU cases.
• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients across diagnoses and surgical cases.
• Collaborate with in-house intensivist support for 24/7 coverage.
• Floated to ER, Tele, or Med Surg as needed.
• Navy blue scrubs required and holiday coverage duties.
• Vents managed with Respiratory Therapy assistance.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a CA RN license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Minimum 2 years of night shift ICU experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity
• Common diagnoses include neuro conditions, radical cancer surgeries, DaVinci and abdominal cases, urology cases, CVA, TPA administration, respiratory failure, sepsis, and oncology patients
• Minimal to no pediatric patients and limited vascular surgery cases
• True cardiac intervention cases are transferred to another facility
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Night shift schedule with every other weekend required
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
• First to float among staff, with floating to ER, Tele, or Med Surg units, including a sister facility
• Vents managed by Respiratory Therapy with nurse troubleshooting responsibilities
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7 in unit
• PICC/Midline IV team available
• Charge Nurse or Nurse Shift Manager present each shift
• On-call may be required if staffing is reduced
• Shift times are 7a or 7p
• Provide direct patient care to critically ill ICU patients across a variety of diagnoses and surgical cases
• Collaborate with in-house intensivist support transitioning to 24/7 coverage
• Floor-specific orientation includes a minimum of 2 shifts plus 1 additional shift for Cerner training
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for one major and two minor holidays during the Christmas season
• Rare instances may require working across both hospital campuses, though not typically mid-shift
• First-time travelers may be considered
