Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night-shift assignment at a Level II Trauma Center in Atlantic City, NJ. You will cover 36 hours weekly on nights with 1:2-3 patient ratios and may float between campuses as needed.

Required: NJ/Compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least 2 years in critical care (medical, surgical, trauma/ neuro ICU). Travel pay includes stipends and comprehensive benefits.

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Minimum 2 years of critical care experience.
  • Experience in medical, surgical, and trauma ICU settings preferred.
  • Skilled in port access, IV starts, central line management, phlebotomy, infection prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ICU care on night shift at a Level II Trauma Center.
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:2-3 and manage critical care tasks.
  • Travel between Atlantic City and Mainland campuses as needed.
  • No on-call requirements and adherence to infection prevention/isolation precautions.
  • Support to care for neuro, trauma, and medical ICU patients.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a NJ or Compact license and neuro ICU experience for a night shift assignment at a Level II Trauma Center.

Details
  • Level II Trauma Center ICU with 26 beds supporting trauma, stroke, neuro elective procedures, and general medical critical care
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-3
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Travelers float first between the Atlantic City and Mainland (Galloway) campuses, approximately 12 miles apart, and may float to step down/PCU and other critical care areas as needed
Requirements
  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
  • Experience preferred in medical, surgical, and trauma ICU settings
  • Skilled in port access/management, IV starts, central line/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, I&O, and infection prevention/isolation precautions
  • Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Experience with continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips, and IV insulin protocols
  • Skilled in interpreting/managing dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, and managing multisystem organ failure and CVA/acute stroke care
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing across medical, surgical, trauma, and neuro ICU populations at a state-designated Level II Trauma Center
  • 6-day orientation schedule: Monday-Friday (8-hour days) with a required return the following Monday for day 6
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Travelers may be required to make up missed shifts during the same week or at the end of the assignment
  • Navy blue scrubs required; may wear a white, black, blue, or gray shirt underneath
  • All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted upfront, as later requests may not be approved
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at the local rate
